Overall Condition: Great overall condition with minor wear for its age. The crystal, dial, and hands are all in excellent condition. While Universal Genève is best remembered today for its celebrated chronographs and the Gérald Genta-designed Polerouter, the manufacture was equally adept at producing elegant dress watches that reflected the changing tastes of the postwar era. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Universal Genève embraced clean lines, modern proportions, and understated sophistication, creating timepieces that remain remarkably contemporary decades later. This handsome rectangular model is a wonderful example of that approach. Executed in stainless steel and measuring a compact 20mm by 28mm, the watch embraces the refined proportions that defined mid-century dress watches. The brushed silver dial is beautifully restrained, featuring elongated 'Roman' numerals that radiate from the center with an almost architectural quality. Paired with slender painted black hands and a minimalist two-hand layout, the design achieves an elegant balance between formality and modernism.
